Anxiety If you read through the articles on this wesite it soon becomes obvious that anxiety is the pivotal element, to a large degree, with the whole range of problems described. In fact anxiety is a pivotal element in the modern world, above and beyond what it has been for society in the past. The communications explosion has brought us all in touch with the world in a way that is unique to this time and has connected us to global sources of anxiety that amplify our personal fears. Lifestyles are generally dominated by wall to wall busy-ness and we begin to lose touch with a part of ourselves that has needs other than just those immediate ones we are concentrating on. If we block this part off from our awareness we are not able to properly process our experience. We set up a background of anxiety which will eventually effect our nervous system. There are a number of disease conditions which have become more common over the past few decades that do not seem to have any specific physical cause. The source of the symptoms would seem to be within us as well as outside us. Auto immune responses can be triggered if the mind is signalling red alert. We might not be aware that we are signalling red alert. We might just feel a characteristic level of stress acting within us, colouring all our thoughts and moods. Our body, however, translates this as red alert and since we are not mobilized to cope with some specific external emergency, the body assumes there must be some emergency to be attended to within, so it may select some site or sites where there is no problem and begin to attack non existing disease elements. Since the antibodies have no disease agent to target, they begin to attack healthy cells. Life is short, to coin a phrase. We may appreciate this, but we may be responding to a program which says life is short so cram as much activity into it as you can so that you never have to accommodate this fact. The part of ourselves that we push out of consciousness actually needs empty spaces in order for it to inform our lives. If we block it out, it starts to interfere in our lives in some way. The way to dissolve this anxiety is to begin to dissolve that barrier and allow our natural creativity to bring about more integration inside us and outside us. Hypnosis can take us directly into a very deep state of physical and mental relaxation where we can begin to focus less within that mechanical anxiety - provoking program and allow more identification with natural nourishing and creative energy within us. back to home page |
