Quitting Smoking

Hypnosis does not have the power to make someone stop doing something they actually like doing and in truth want to continue doing. So you really need to be clear about the fact that you've reached the point where you really want to let the habit go and are looking to use hypnosis to focus you strongly in this desire to let go.You are using the hypnosis to break the continuity of the habit. You are using the hypnosis to signal very strongly to the subconscious that the programme for lighting up is truly obsolete and to create a new orientation ie I am absolutely a non smoker, I have absolutely no desire to smoke cigarettes, tobacco, in any shape or form, in any situation at any time of night or day, regardless of what emotions I'm experiencing, regardless of what conditions I find myself in, ---- for the whole of the rest of my life

So, when you walk in the door for the session you are just carrying out the next step in a process that's been underway for some time. A part of yourself has already decided that this habit is out of your life. Booking the session and coming to the session are the markers that you are actually moving into what this part wants. Walking in the door you are walking right into that part of yourself and you begin to listen very carefully to it. As you listen to the hypnotherapist you are really allowing him or her to reflect that part of yourself back to you and to amplify its intention. You are no longer going about your business with a nagging awareness that you've got to do something about this habit. You find you've walked into the room and sat down in a comfortable chair and you are actually allowing yourself to fully engage with that important thing that you've been wanting to do for some time now.

The hypnosis allows you to relax the focus on your conscious mind and to go deep into that body awareness that has been telling you for a long time now that you're in a dangerous place with this habit. That awareness has no problem with smoking - it just wants you to let it go because it's damaging your life and it has potential to do even more damage. This part of you is very calm and natural and is unconcerned about any short term discomforts in quitting. The hypnosis allows you to make a very strong connection with this relaxed powerful energy and immediately begin to disengage from the habit. Once you create this connection in a deep way there is really no going back on it, it becomes more and more the orientation that you have when you come into those trigger areas where you are used to having a cigarette. The compulsion begins to lose energy while simply allowing yourself to relax becomes stronger and stronger. In effect you begin to rewrite the program that you installed in your sub-conscious mind when you took on the smoking habit. This begins as soon as you walk into the session and sit down. The effect can be similar to putting a powerful engine into gear.

So you need to ask yourself " Do I truly want to put this powerful engine in gear?"
