About Hypnotherapy...

First of all there is a detailed consultation in which you are able to talk things over in complete confidence and give details of your problem(s). This is often therapeutic in itself. A course of treatment will then be suggested, the number of sessions that are required depending upon a number of factors such as the type of problem, its depth and severity. I will then usually discuss hypnosis with you so that you are feeling totally relaxed and are aware that there is no possibility of losing control or consciousness at any time. I'll ask you to sit in a comfortable chair and then get you to focus on my voice, to lead you gently into hypnosis.

Depending upon your particular needs, we will discuss how best to follow up your initial treatment. Usually, the first follow up session, if required, is one week after the first. Length of treatment is totally dependent on the condition...some things clear up quicker than others. Generally speaking, the longer you have had something, the longer it takes to clear, but that is by no means always the case. Many problems can be treated in a single session.

What is hypnosis ?

It may surprise many to learn that we have all experienced trance states many times, for example as we drift into sleep or upon awakening.
The experience of hypnosis is similar: neither asleep nor awake and a little like daydreaming with a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness which you can naturally enter so that, for therapeutic purposes, beneficial suggestions may be given directly to your unconscious mind.
In this way, hypnosis is an effective way of making contact with our inner (unconscious) self, which is both a reservoir of unrecognised potential and knowledge as well as being the unwitting source of many of our problems. It is a fact that no-one can be hypnotised against their will and even when hypnotised, a person can still reject any suggestion. Thus therapeutic hypnosis is a state of purposeful co-operation.
Clinical Hypnotherapy means using hypnosis to treat a variety of medical and psychological problems. It is estimated that 85% of people will readily respond to clinical hypnotherapy. It may even succeed where other, more conventional methods of treatment have not produced the desired results. When carried out by a professionally trained and skilled hypnotherapist, the benefits can be long lasting and often permanent. It is completely natural and safe, with no harmful side effects.

How does it work?

The process of undergoing hypnosis is a very relaxed way of entering into deeper levels of mind where powerful motivating energy can be drawn into the intention for positive change. Old obsolete and negative habits and patterns of behaviour can be rewritten. Aims and goals can be integrated deeply into the unconscious from where they begin to push out into your conscious everyday life. In hypnosis we create a very strong connection between your conscious and unconscious, in which your intention to stop smoking or lose weight connects with the natural power of your deeper mind. We dissolve the old programme. We create a strong vision in your unconscious of yourself as a non smoker or at your ideal weight. This begins to exert a strong pull on your behaviour. In the case of performance anxiety ( this can cover anything from general self consciousness to public speaking.) Hypnotherapy London can enable you to create a completely different attitude towards the problem situation, by modifying your past negative associations and creating powerful positive expectations of future performance situations.

If you lack confidence in any area of your life - Hypnotherapy London can take you directly into that area and re-vamp the automatic negative responses which have been set up in that area, so that you begin to engage in a very different way.

"My name is Mike Wallis. I am 59years of age and was a client of Mike's. I was diagnosed as having terminal heart condition and had to change my life style radically causing a lot of anxiety and confusion. Mike helped to bring about a marked improvement in my symptons through the hypnosis, encouraging me to put my reactions into perspective and develope my own calm confidence. I recommend this treatment"

"The hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis has definitely made a difference to my life as I do it every day to help me in any situations that I might feel anxious in. The major thing it has helped me with is that I recently passed a very difficult interview for my dream company. This is a company I have tried many times to get into before, but by using the hypnotherapy techniques that you taught me I passed the interview! It has also helped me to change the way I think about things and I know that for me to change permanently I must keep up the self hypnosis, and this I am going to be doing. The sessions with yourself were extremely helpful and have helped me to put some perspective on life. Thank you for all your help".

Yours Sincerely

Susan McTavish

If you suffer from phobic responses or an obsessive compulsive disorder, Hypnotherapy London can set up a powerful curb on these behaviours by creating a special sort of focus on their triggers.
This begins by very strongly inhibiting your habitual responses and eventually overriding and completely replacing them with a relaxation response.

If your problem is weight loss Hypnotherapy London can have a dramatic effect, even within two or three sessions. Through hypnosis you begin to align yourself with the image of yourself that already exists in your unconscious mind at your ideal weight. Hypnosis amplifies this image and creates a very dynamic attraction between you as you are now and the powerful magnet of your strongly held image of your future self so that you begin to move irresistibly towards it in your conscious life.

Hypnosis has effectively been used as a substitute for anaesthesia in surgical and dental procedures. This attests to just how powerfully it can affect an individual. I often see people at a second session amazed that simply listening to my voice with their eyes closed is somehow creating a change in their behaviour. They find it difficult to understand that such a simple drifting into deep relaxation can trigger powerful positive motivation.

Hypnosis has been explained in many ways. What is obvious is that it connects with a natural faculty which people have always had - the ability to go into trance states and access deeper levels of mind in a very direct way. Hypnotherapy London uses the trance state to amplify the positive intention for change...
